Hi, I am quite new to birding but got caught in this lovely passion quite fast. I am now only using a MF Tamron SP500 f8 lens on my Sony A550. I'm negotiating a new Tamron 200-500 LD Di together with a 1.4X TC, hoping to get them soon. I do have great difficulty getting the Sigma 150-500 OS HSM version for my camera here.
Having read so much about Digiscoping but not catching anything serious about advantages from my soon to have setup. Can anyone here guide me to any writeup on this? I don't mind lugging a couple more kgs if it can dramatically improve my chances of getting more birds with similar or not too far off quality.
I have been to a couple of birding trips with friends with AF lenses. And they do get a lot more keepers than I did, which lead me to decide on the Tamron AF. And, I could not lay my hands on any mid priced or higher end scopes to try them out.
Also during my read up, I came across this topic (http://www.digiscopediary.co.uk/dslr.html ) on using DSLR with lens attached to scope and resulting in faster SS due the setting of wider aperture. Two questions:
1. Anybody here tried this method as compared to using the T-mount to body method? What are the pros and cons?
2. Anybody here used any of this scopes especially the T-90ED as compared with other popular scopes here?
Why am I interested in this Olivon? It's scope comes with thread on the scope body where the DSLR adaptor just screw in instead of the usual clamp or bracket which can be more lightweight and more rigid.
Any advices, comments or critics here are most welcome and lastly, my apology for the long list.
Thanks.
