I have recently acquired a Nikon EDIII scope which I use on an Opticron tripod with a Mulepack. The tripod seems to cope with the scope well except that swinging the Mulepack to put it on or take it off makes the scope loosen and twist on the quick release plate.
The QR plate incorporates a removable anti-swivel pin but unfortunately there is no socket for it in the bottom of the scope foot. I suppose I could drill a hole in the foot but I am reluctant to do this. I seem to remember seeing quick release plates which incorporate clamping screws for a tripod foot but I can't find them now. Does anybody know if such things exist?
An alternative solution would be to attach a bar to the QR plate beside the foot to stop it twisting. Has anybody come up with any ingenious solutions of their own? I can't be the only one to have this problem.
